Introducing Methofill® SelfDose

Your doctor has prescribed a methotrexate device, Methofill® SelfDose, to treat one of the following conditions:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in adult patients. This is a chronic (or long-term) disease which is characterised by inflammation and swelling of the joints
  • Polyarthritic forms of severe active juvenile idiopathic arthritis when treatment with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (otherwise known as NSAIDs) have not helped. Arthritis is classed as juvenile arthritis when it affects children and adolescents younger than 16 years of age
  • Severe psoriatic arthritis in adult patients. Psoriatic arthritis is a kind of arthritis with psoriatic lesions of the skin and nails, especially at the joints of fingers and toes
  • Severe psoriasis which has not responded to other forms of treatment. Psoriasis is a common chronic skin disease, characterised by red patches covered by thick, dry, silvery skin
  • Crohn’s disease in adult patients. This is a type of inflammatory bowel disease which can cause abdominal pain, diarrhoea, vomiting and/or weight loss

Methofill® modifies and slows down the progression of the disease.

How to dispose of your device

To dispose of Methofill® SelfDose, you need a Sharpsafe® or Sharpak® bin that has a large enough opening at the top for you to easily place the device inside. If you are unsure that this is what you have been given and you are struggling to dispose of your device, check with your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
